Visit our LGM
Montessori Store where you'll find Montessori books, toys, & games. Your
purchase(s) support our school. The Social-Emotional Environment
Children are encouraged to engage with each other and with our teachers,
to express their needs, to problem-solve, resolve conflicts, to ask questions. In the process of this engagement they develop higher-order thinking skills.
Physical Development
Children play in our outdoor playground every day unless there is inclement
weather. On those days, they take part in stretching and movement activities
that support the development of small and gross motor skills. Once a week
our creative movement specialist instructs the children in ballet, modern dance, jazz, etc.
Creative Expression
Children are encouraged to draw, paint, and express themselves in words
(i.e. in daily journals.) In the dramatic play area, they live out fantasies
and reenact events.
Cognitive Development
Our prepared environment and specially made materials are child-centered
and age appropriate with built-in controls for error. Small group and
one-on-one presentations by our teachers model different ways to use the
material.
